Your Claude Working Brief

Fill this in once for a given project or week. Paste it at the top of every serious Claude session — it tells the model who you are, what you're building, what it can't assume, and the bar the output has to clear. Keep it. Update it. It will sharpen with use.

How to use this sheet

On screen: Click any field and type directly. Use "Save as .md" to download your filled brief as a Markdown file you can keep.

On paper: Click "Print" for a clean one-page version. Fill in by hand and keep it on your desk.

01
Who I am & what I do
Your role, your operation type, and the kind of deliverables you produce regularly. Be specific. Claude uses this to calibrate voice, register, and assumed context. Not "I'm a consultant" — "I'm an operations consultant working with a 12-location QSR franchisee on labor cost and throughput."
02
The deliverable I'm building this week
One specific thing. Not "better reports" — one document, one tracker, one SOP. State what done looks like, and who receives it. If you can't name the audience and the decision, the deliverable isn't scoped yet.
03
Context Claude needs that it doesn't have
What's specific to your operation? Industry terms, client names, process names, formats you use, jargon, acronyms, historical constraints. Everything Claude cannot assume from general knowledge. This field is where most people skimp — and it's where most output fails.
04
The standard this output must meet
Who sees it? What format? What level of polish? Would you hand it directly to a client, or is it internal? This becomes your quality bar — and Claude's target register.
05
What I'll check before I use the output
Your QA checklist — three to five specific things you will verify before the output leaves your hands. Factual accuracy, math, format, tone, completeness, register. This is your professional filter. Write it down; don't trust yourself to remember it mid-session.
